Seven months ago when I was flying to New Zealand, I remember being terrified before my flight was about to take off. Not because I had a problem with flying, but because I was afraid of what change may come. While the plane was being taxied, I overheard the guy sitting behind me tell his girlfriend that we were going to be "chasing the night." Perhaps not the most exciting thing to overhear, but since then, I've been captivated by this image, for we did indeed chase the night.

Why am I telling you this?
I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. Its a story I've never told anyone, but has lingered in my mind for quite some time, and I felt the impulse to share it with you. To me, the idea of chasing the night is like finding comfort, or rather being granted the gift of time to feel comfort or happiness in a world where time refuses to stop. And right now, I wish I could chase the night, because the dawn is coming and the sun is burning, and here is not exactly where I want to be.
